Dear Parents:

Congratulations on the wonderful work you do every day to help your children grow and develop into proud and successful adults. As parents and grandparents we must encourage our children to open themselves to all areas of life. KIDS creative life writing workshops are just one way to make sure your child is exposed to the ingredients at their disposal to complete this complicated task.

What does a creative life writing workshop offer a child?

 It's a wonderful feeling to write a story in which they are the main character, somebody special. It is not important what the story is about, only that it is about them.

 The simple and unpretentious writing of a KIDS workshop is similar to the adult workshops in that we write off the top of our heads just to get the story out. We deal with re-writes, spelling, and grammar at a later time.

 We also use timed writing exercises to help filter out the clutter and bring stories to the surface. The concept is simple enough for a child to understand and the sooner they begin writing their memories the longer they will have them.

 When children write about themselves and their family they find a great sense of pride and value. Their self-esteem soars: I am important, I am loved, I am cared for. Or, I was bad and I am sorry. No matter what their story is about, it is theirs and they are unique.

 Our workshops emphasize that a child using words as paint can create a true and innocent portrait of who they are today, and who they aspire to be tomorrow. As such, these stories don't have to be perfect, they don't need to be great, they just need to be forever etched into their memories; the experiences, sights, and smells to linger forever.

 Most importantly, KIDS Creative Life Writing is a child's opportunity to be heard.

 The second most important part of KIDS Life Writing Workshops is the indelible creativity that is published in book form with the author's (your child's) name beside their work in testimony of their accomplishment.
